That is the background. The only personnel fact tied directly to this game is Dario Šarić's readiness. The Croatian forward, born in Šibenik in 2026, was taken 12th overall in the 2026 NBA Draft, played for the Philadelphia 76ers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Phoenix Suns, Oklahoma City Thunder and Golden State Warriors, before returning to Europe in the summer of 2026 and signing with Efes.

And yet the most writable thing about this game is an absence. Without a foul log, you cannot know who fouled and why. Without minutes, you cannot know which lineups were actually tested. Then there is Šarić's readiness. The word "ready" is a medical and physical signal, not a tactical one. It says he has cleared the rehabilitation stage, that his body can take the intensity of a game — it does not say where he will play, who he will stand beside, or how the team will space the floor around him. A 31-year-old forward returning from the NBA, after years of a gruelling schedule, is typically load-managed at this point of the calendar. And here is the part I find most interesting: in preseason basketball, the most-quoted number — points — is the least predictive, while the least-quoted numbers — minutes and lineup pairings — are the most predictive. For Efes, a preseason win is a mildly positive team-level signal, but the amplitude of that signal is small. Exhibition games typically feature split rotations, even minutes, low defensive intensity, and combinations the coaching staff already knows will fail. That is a laboratory, not an exam. Then there is the sheet itself. The box score circulated without a verifiable source, without an author, without a clear publication date, without possession or efficiency data. In this trade, a number set without a source is a number set waiting to be corrected. I read it the way I read an unedited manuscript: I understand the intent, but I will not yet quote it. The trap: winning is not progress, and scoring is not weak defence

Two inferences are easy to make here, and I see them every summer.

The first: Efes won, therefore Efes are improving. Wrong, because a friendly is not designed to measure improvement.
