Amarillo Texas Attractions

Believe it or not, Jack Sisemore's RV Museum is one of my favorite discoveries in Amarillo, Texas. This level is not to be missed and it is the only camper museum in the entire state of Texas with its own museum.

If you want to visit the Palo Duro Canyon and not camp, you can stay overnight in the Canyon in Texas. If you love nature, plan a trip to the San Jacinto River Canyon, Rio Grande Valley and Palo Dero Canyon.

These beautiful state parks are a must for all Texans and should not be missed when visiting Amarillo. If you're traveling with your family, add the Texas State Fair to your Texas Bucket List. Take the El Paso - Phoenix Road Trip, join the free Downtown Dallas Walk Tour and add a lot more to the list! Of course, children will love many of the attractions outlined above, but it's worth including these places in a list of activities in Amarilla.

Other attractions include the Amarillo Historical Museum, which shows local history, and the Texas State Museum. Explore the Natural History Museum, the State Capitol Building, a Texas History Museum and much more to enjoy in Amarilla, Texas. And of course we talked about all the cool things you can see and do at Cadillac Ranch and other places in town. My first recommendation is to visit the Cadillac Ranch and have dinner there if you want a real TEXAS experience.

Look for the art of sunset, which has a working studio with a beautiful view of the Amarillo River and the city of Amarilla and its surroundings.

While exploring Amarillo, be sure to bring your can of your favorite paint spray and visit the Cadillac Ranch just west of the city on Interstate 40. This ranch has something for everyone, making it a great place for a day trip or weekend getaway. Here you will find many opportunities to hike, camp, fish, ride, hike and much more.

You'll need a car to spend time in Amarillo, but virtually everything on this list of activities in and around Amarillos requires you to cross the city while driving along Route 66 or looking around. If you live nearby and are lucky enough to be just a 20 minute drive away, there are some fantastic things you can do outside of Amarilla when you visit. You will find plenty of tips for planning your trip and learn more about planning a weekend trip in or near Amarilli. Would you like to discover some more attractions in Amarillian or plan a trip?

There are more than enough Amarillo activities to fill a few days, and there are many places in and around the city of Amarilla, Texas, just a 20 minute drive from Amarilli.

In fact, there are so many fun things to do in Amarillo that a weekend trip really isn't enough time. There are many things we have done in Texas, but visiting Palo Duro Canyon is high on our list. Also known as the "Grand Canyon of Texas," Palo Cero Canyon is one of the most popular hiking and camping destinations in the United States. Located about 25 miles south of Amarilla, it is home to the largest and most famous mountain range in the world.

Palo Duro Canyon winds 120 miles from Llano Estacado and winds through the city of Amarillo, located just a few miles south of the Texas-Mexico border. The plain is bordered by the San Antonio River, the largest river in the United States, and the Rio Grande River.

Visit the Historic District, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, Amarillo City Hall, the Texas State Capitol and the US Capitol.

If the Historic District is not enough, there are plenty of other outdoor activities to do in the Amarillo area, home to the Texas State Capitol, the U.S. Capitol and many other historic sites. If you are coming from outside Texas or even from other parts of the United States, just drive a few hours south of Austin or north of Houston to be closer to Texas City, Texas's largest city.

Palo Duro Canyon State Park opened this year and is a must-visit in the summer when you can see an outdoor musical drama telling the story of Texas with song, dance and plenty of humor. This classic Amarillo tourist spot is known for its 72-ounce steak challenge - eat for free if you eat a huge steak with side dish that can be eaten in less than half an hour. The Palo Dero Canyon Musical hit "TEXAS" is more than just a musical, it's one of the most incredible shows you'll ever see about Texas.
